Practical Approach, Feeding Success

What mamilla offers

At Mamilla, I propel each unique mother-baby dyad toward nursing success by, first, prioritizing maternal mental health and, then, providing tailored lactation care via accessible in-person consultations and personalized infant feeding plans.
From my own experiences as a working mom who breastfed each of her children for two years, I understand the complexities of juggling motherhood with career endeavors and the maternal need to keep personal identity intact. Rejecting stereotypes, Mamilla embraces a down-to-earth approach to lactation consultation, offering practical advice and support without the pressure or judgment often associated with the journey of new motherhood.

For far too many, nursing becomes too complicated, but Mamilla constructs plans infused with simple and basic principles.
Mamilla recommends the following visit schedule to ensure feeding success, a thriving infant, and a well-adjusted new mom.
Initial newborn visit at 2-5 days after delivery.
Follow-up visit at 7-10 days after delivery.
A visit for a bottle or pumping introduction if desired at 3-4 weeks after delivery.
A visit to discuss the mother's return to work plan at 10-12 weeks after delivery.
A visit to support mom and baby as solid food is introduced when the infant is around 6 months old.
Finally, a visit to support mother and baby if and when it is desired to wean.

Couples can prepare early for the whirlwind of delivery and postpartum. Classes are offered at least once monthly at The Children’s Clinic of Nashville.
The prenatal course is 2.5 hours long and includes one hour of newborn care education taught by a pediatrician or nurse practitioner, a thirty-minute break including refreshments, and one hour of breastfeeding preparation education. This is a great way to become more familiar with the providers at The Children's Clinic of Nashville as well as meet fellow new parents in your community.
The cost of the class is $175 per couple.
